In the early morning of May 11, 2014, the local fire brigade was alerted to Hohenems to respond to a fire in a commercial building.
The fire initially involved a workshop, but eventually the fire spread to the entire building.
This video clip illustrates the extent of the fire. Many did not initially realize the size of the fire.

Hohenems (pop. 15,200) is a town in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg in the Dornbirn district. It lies in the middle of the Austrian part of the Rhine valley. Hohenems is the fifth largest municipality in Vorarlberg.
