Mayor de Blasio Announces Enhancement to NYPD Mobile Communication with Tablet Dispatch and Search

VIDEO: Mayor de Blasio Announces Major Initiative to Enhance NYPD Mobile Communication at One Exchange Plaza.

The same information that was available at an NYPD police station desk on a desktop computer is now available with a police officer whenever he or she is carrying a tablet device.

Three example cases …

[1] 9-1-1 jobs allows every police officer to filter particular 9-1-1 calls in a specific sector. 9-1-1 call dispatched over the radio will also be dispatched over the tablets. They will be able to see all of the text that dispatchers type while receiving or reviewing a 9-1-1 call. Police officers can see an overview of the location they are assigned to respond with premise history and warrant alerts, etc.

[2] Search will allow police officers to search any NYPD data with a particular word search.

[3] Notifications will push missing person information flyers to the police officers. They will also be able to browse previous notifications, such as CRIMESTOPPER photos, for example.
