Bruce Jenner Rear-End Chain Collision/Head-on Collision on Pacific Coast Highway Kills Woman

Bruce Jenner involved in a multi-vehicle rear-end and head-on crash on Pacific Coast Highway (SR 1 or Highway 1) just east of Corral Canyon Road.

Los Angeles County Sheriff and firefighter/paramedics responded to a four-vehicle crash about 12:15 p.m. Saturday in the 26000 block of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Early in the investigation it is understood that a Toyota Prius slowed or stopped in northbound traffic and was struck from behind by a white Lexus sedan. A large SUV — a black Cadillac Escalade with a trailer carrying a Dune Buggy then crashed into the rear-end of the Lexus. The collision pushed the Lexus in the southbound oncoming traffic, which caused a third collision with a black Hummer H2. The impact of the third collision apparently killed a female driver in the white Lexus.

A family of five occupants in the Hummer were transported to the hospital as a precaution. The driver of the Escalade, former Olympian decathlete and reality TV celebrity Bruce Jenner was driving the black Escalade. Photos were captured just before the impact and during the impact, which show Jenner holding something in his left hand.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating cellphone records to see if any of the motorists were using their wireless phones before or during the crash. Also, Jenner was observed with police during his field sobriety test at the crash scene.

Pacific Coast Highway is the main thoroughfare in Malibu between Santa Monica and Ventura County.

About 6:45 p.m. and while the entire crash scene was blocked by police tape, a suspected drunken driver drove into a restaurant parking lot and then through the barricade around the crash scene and crashed into the wreckage, according to Los Angeles County deputies. Crash scene data collection was already completed, so the investigation was not compromised.

As news reports were breaking, conflicting reports were published on whether Jenner was driving the Escalade, and whether paparazzi were chasing Jenner. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is continuing the investigation.
