DIAMOND BAR – Los Angeles County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol responded to a traffic collision on the Northbound 57 freeway south of Temple Ave. Firefighters at the scene discovered a two vehicle collision with one vehicle, an SUV, that had slammed into the pole for the overhead freeway sign. The male driver of the SUV was trapped, and firefighters determined they require assistance from the Urban Search And Rescue team (USAR). It took a total of two hours to remove the driver from the mangled mess, and he then was airlifted to USC Medical Center. CHP had both directions shutdown on the 57 but then reopened the southbound side and one lane of the northbound side.
