DashCam Video: Cement Truck Rollover Head-On Crash at Wellborn Rd and Prairie Rock Rd, College Station, TX

Cement truck runs a stale yellow/red light and rolls over to avoid cross-traffic pickup truck that enters the intersection with a green light.

Texas A&M veterinary professor Dr. Guan Zhu is very fortunate to have escaped serious injury or even death when a cement truck tipped on its side and crashed head-on into the professor’s car at the intersection of Wellborn Road and Rock Prairie Road in College Station.

Dashcam video shows Dr. Guan Zhu’s vehicle heading toward northwestbound toward the intersection with a green light. A few vehicles from oncoming traffic make a left turn in the distance. The light turns yellow, and then red, but an oncoming cement truck at high speed traveling southeastbound on Wellborn Road doesn’t stop or can’t stop. A cross-traffic pickup truck enters the intersection with a green light on Dr. Guan Zhu’s left — failing to yield to the cement truck that is violating the red light. The cement truck driver swerves to avoid hitting the pickup truck, but the truck rolls and tips on its left side — sliding into Dr. Guan Zhu’s vehicle head-on.

Dr. Guan Zhu had a dash camera, which he had installed about a year ago in case he was ever involved in a crash.
