Arson Cases #66 and #67 in Accomack County: Vacant Whispering Pines Motel and Old Mallard’s Restaurant Latest Cases


Fire at the old, former Mallard’s restaurant in Onancock Wednesday night with a re-kindle.

Onancock Volunteer Fire Department responded about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday March 13, 2013 to a fire at the former location of the Mallard’s Restaurant building in the 22000 block of Bayside Road in Onancock.


Arsonist destroys abandoned motel in Tasley, Viriginia — the Whispering Pines Motel was landmark.

Tuesday evening, March 12, 2013, The Tasley Fire Company firefighters responded to an arson fire at the once-popular Whispering Pines Motel, which ironically sits only a few yards from an electronic message board offering $25,000 in reward money for information in the case. No public information about any possible suspect has been released from police, who have set up checkpoints in the are to search for the suspect.

Police and fire authorities announced Monday, December 10, 2012 that a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a serial arsonist at work in Accomack County on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. The serial arsons began with a string of 20 abandoned structures that were torched at various locations in Accomack County between Tuesday, November 13, 2012 and Saturday, November 24, 2012.
