5 Killed, 2 Critically Injured on IR 15 Near Mesquite, Nevada


Five members of a Southern California family were killed Saturday when their van was rear-ended by an 18-year-old driver who was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.

A 1999 Dodge Durango rear-ended a 2002 Chevrolet AstroVan about 2:53 a.m. Saturday, March 30. The impact caused the AstroVan to rotate to the right and roll over onto its roof. Five of seven occupants were ejected from the vehicle. Five occupants of the vehicle were killed, and two were transported by medical helicopter to University Medical Center in critical condition.

The 18-year-old male driver, , anda 23-year-old male passenger were transported by ambulance to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Jean Soriano, 18, the driver of the Dodge Durango was arrested DUI, and transported from the hospital to Clark County Detention Center.
