Houston Apartment Fire: Construction Project at Dallas St and Marconi St Destroyed by 5-Alarm Fire

Houston firefighters responded about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday to a fire at an apartment complex under construction at Dallas and Montrose (also reported as Dallas and Marconi). Houston Fire Department reported the official address as the 2400 block of West Dallas. Construction workers were able to evacuate. Much of the burning building was shown to have a Tyvek-like material on the outside. Another part of the building has been leveled, and only concrete stairwells remain standing.

The fire was upgraded to a 3-alarm fire at 12:50 p.m.

The fire was upgraded to a 5-alarm fire at 1:25 p.m.

The American General building was evacuated as a precaution. Winds are from the northwest at about 20-25 mph.

Firefighters were called out to battle a 5-alarm fire after a high-rise apartment complex under construction caught fire. No injuries have been reported, but hundreds of emergency personnel were sent to the scene.
