Fatal House Fire Involves Homicide and Arson Investigation on Highland Rd, Indianapolis

RTV6 The Indy Channel: One person was killed Friday morning in a house fire on Highland Road near 71st Street and Michigan Road on the northwest side of Indianapolis.

Pike Township firefighters responded about 11:00 p.m. Thursday November 2, 2017 to a house fire in the block of 7200 Highland Road near 71st and Michigan.

An adult and two children escaped the fired, but an elderly adult was rescued from the second floor and transported to Eskenazi Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition and then died.

The two children were transported to Riley Hospital for evaluation for smoke inhalation.

The fire started in the back of the house, but the cause of the fire was unknown early Friday, November 3, 2017

Three dogs died in the fire.

IMPD homicide detectives and arson investigators from the Pike Township Fire Department were on the scene overnight.

Pike Township Fire Dept. officials say they rescued a person from a house fire near 71st and Michigan Rd. last night. That person is in critical condition at Eskenazi Hospital.

Injuries: One man killed, 2 children injured.
