SUV vs Tree after crash in Schaumburg

Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:55 PM Wednesday to a personal injury crash with multiple victims 524 East Schaumburg Road Schaumburg, IL. Schaumburg police on arrival discovered two vehicles with heavy damage and people trapped in one or both vehicles. One vehicle was a small SUV which hit a tree. The second vehicle was a white Mercedes sedan which was about 40 yards west of the SUV. Both vehicles were on the shoulder of westbound Schaumburg Road in front of the Schaumburg Township Elementary School District 54 administrative offices. A third vehicle — a sedan with less damage — was located on the south side of Schaumburg Road in a parking lot at 524 East Schaumburg Road.

Possibly three patients were transported to area hospitals. Firefighters had to call for extra extrication tools for the extrication operation.

Schaumburg Road is closed in both directions between Plum Grove Road and Roselle Road.

An extended accident investigation is underway. The Major Case Assistant Team Command Unit (MCAT) arrived about 11:12 PM. Schaumburg Road will probably be closed at least until 3:00 a.m or 4:00 a.m.
