House Fire on Renfrew Drive in Clay, New York


Fireground operations at a house fire in Clays, New York.

Moyers Corners volunteer firefighters responded about 9:38 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 to a report of a house fire at at 8202 Renfrew Drive off of Soule Road in the town of Clay.

Initial reports from the 911 Center indicated a 17-year-old male resident may be trapped inside of the residence. Car 2 [Chief Crispin] arrived first with heavy fire coming from the single car garage. Battalion 1 [Chief Bailey] established the command and struck the Signal 99 for a working structure fire. Chief Crispin was directed to the backyard by neighbors indicating the 17-year-old was back there. He was able to guide the resident safely to the front of the structure to meet up with his parents.

Onondaga County sheriff’s deputies and Northern Onondaga Volunteer Ambulance (NOVA) also were called to the scene. North Syracuse, Mattydale, Clay and Belgium Cold Springs volunteer firefighters assisted Moyers Corners firefighters for mutual aid.

Clay, North Syracuse, Liverpool and Belgium-Cold Springs were moveup coverage companies.
