Fireground Audio: Mariner’s Cove Motor Inn Fire with Rescue


Point Pleasant Beach Mariner’s Cove Motel Fire Dispatch AUDIO ONLY.

Point Pleasant Beach Fire Department responded about 5:33 am to Mariner’s Cove Motel, 50 Broadway to a report of a structure fire with entrapment.

25 Units
40 people were believed to have been in building.
10 are unaccounted for.

One woman saved herself by staying in shower with water running and was rescued by Point Pleasant Beach Volunteer firefighters.

The fire was overhead in bathroom while firefighter Mike Ryan made entry through a second floor bathroom window. A hose line was used to knock down the fire in the bathroom before entry was made.

Four pople were reported killed in fire at Mariner’s Cove Motor Inn in Point Pleasant Beach. Eight people suffered serious burns or other injuries in the blaze. An Ocean County Sheriff’s officer also suffered a broken ankle while working at the scene.

Careless smoking is believed to have caused the fire.
