Everyone living between the towns of Carlton and Pateros were also evacuated. The Stokes Road Fire advanced to Highway 97 Thursday, and was burning homes on the north side of the highway.

The fire was reported to be advancing very rapidly with officials warning there was no time to gather possessions, and at least one resident, who lost his home in Brewster Flats, reporting he was unhappy with the lack of any evacuation notice.
