Train Derailment on the Schuylkill Arsenal Railroad Bridge

Philadelphia police and firefighters responded early Monday morning, January

Seven railroad cars of the 101-car freight train derailed on the Schuylkill Arsenal Railroad Bridge, and were leaning precariously over the Schuylkill River.

Both directions of the Schuylkill Expressway were closed by police shortly after the derailment as crews worked to stabilize the cars, and the river was closed to boat traffic by the U.S. Coast Guar.
