Construction Rig Overturns and Hangs from Elevated Ramp from Bush Turnpike to Dallas North Tollway, Dallas


Traffic on the Bush Turnpike and Tollway in Dallas, Texas was diverted after construction equipment being hauled flipped over and was dangling off a flyover ramp, according to station KDFW-FOX 4.

Firefighters and police officers responded about 12:22 p.m. Monday to rollover crash involving a trailer with a construction rig called a directional boring rig overturned and dangled off the ramp from westbound lanes President George Bush Turnpike to the northbound Dallas North Tollway.

There was a fuel spill that leaked down to the Georg Bush Turnpike below the elevated ramp. The crashed rig was stabilized with cables, and a new trailer was brought in to transport the directional boring rig away.

The crash was cleared about 4:25 p.m. but fuel spill cleanup wasn’t complete until about 5:54 p.m. when lanes started to open.
